Due to increased economic and agricultural activities, including the rampant use of borewells, the water table in Tamil Nadu has declined to 100 feet from ground level. To continue supplying water to more than 1 million people, Larsen & Toubro sought to design pump houses and hydraulic networks to move irrigation water to more than 1,000 reservoirs while keeping water pressure consistent. Since the network is 120 kilometers long and 45 kilometers wide, they had to find a way to overcome several complex issues.

Larsen & Toubro realized that they could overcome the difficulties with OpenFlows applications. As they surveyed the real-world network conditions, they used the application to quickly update the network model. Next, they selected the optimal pipe sizes and determined how to group outlets to maintain steady water pressure. As the city of Agra grew, the water system operator needed to meet increased demand. Currently a city of 21,142 people, Malthone is expected to grow to 30,149 people by 2052. The previous water supply source was based on tube wells, but they are not dependable as they typically go dry during the summer. To prevent power interruptions, the pipeline had to carefully control water pressure surges. They wanted to use hydraulic analysis to ensure steady flow, but the complex nature of the project required specialized calculations.

Jash Engineering determined that OpenFlows HAMMER could perform the specialized analysis needed for the project. The application helped determine surge pressures, as well as cavity formations and collapse, at various locations. They used analysis results to control pressures with both air cushion and zero velocity valves. Larsen & Toubro needed to design a new sewage network, water distribution network, two treatment plants, and other structures in only 36 months. They needed a digital solution to deliver on time, as well as help them to determine a suitable sewer depth while considering the topography and road widths.

Approximately 94,500 people in 74 villages near the Indian city of Dhar lack consistent, clean water, and that affected population is expected to grow to 167,000 by 2035. ATLC Infraconsultants was tasked with providing the area with sustainable drinking water but had to overcome challenges presented by uneven, hilly terrain. To optimize the system, they wanted to undertake a full topological survey of the area and confirm the availability of water to all residents, but previous software could not combine views of the topography and potential route alignment.

The water system for the Planalto district provides water to 28,290 people but has one of the highest water loss rates in the entire city. Enorsul was tasked with addressing the problems but soon discovered that the registry for much of the system was missing or outdated by 15 years.

Enorsul determined that OpenFlows WaterGEMS could help evaluate the current state of the water system and pinpoint the causes of the water loss. They undertook a hydraulic analysis of the entire system, including 175 kilometers of supply networks and 5,000 consumption nodes. They revealed problems caused by an unneeded booster-pressurized supply area, as well as a leak in a crossing enclosed in a viaduct. The analysis helped them determine how to reduce water loss by 47%, over twice the target of 23%.
