To alleviate traffic bottlenecks, improve connecting roads, and optimize regional traffic operation efficiency in the Taichung District of Taiwan, the Freeway Bureau initiated construction of an interchange connection platform between National Freeway No.1 and Expressway 74. The project consisted primarily of bridge works. Environmental engineering firm EARTH POWER was retained to perform BIM and reality modeling to identify potential construction obstacles and implement preventive measures.

They previously used third-party software but switched to ContextCapture to process the aerial-captured photos into a 3D reality mesh. Integrating the mesh with their BIM model, they generated an executable file to share with other disciplines on the project team to compare and determine any on-site construction issues. Upon completion, the new roadway connection will help complete the high-speed network and uplift regional express transportation services.
