Abandoned farmland in Shizuoka, Japan is being redesigned, enabling increased production of high-profit crops like olives and fruit trees. The redesign required that the area be evaluated in terms of traffic safety. Therefore, Nissin sought comprehensive reality modeling technology to generate a model of the existing site and create driving animations from the driver’s perspective.
To create a reality mesh of the area, Nissin selected ContextCapture, importing it into OpenRoads to integrate the planned farm road design model. They used LumenRT to simulate a farm road driving environment by incorporating pedestrians and automobiles, eliminating the need for modeling buildings and saving resource hours and costs. By using the applications’ dynamic modeling and visualization, they generated a highly realistic driving simulation for comparative investigation of the safety and driving convenience with a high degree of accuracy. The reality mesh can be updated through regular surveys for continued use throughout delivery and operations of the project.
