To help ensure structural integrity during construction of a hydraulic engineering facility, special laboratory studies are being performed to determine the mechanical characteristics and stability of coarse-grained soils under static and seismic conditions. NRU MGSU is responsible for conducting the studies and subsequent modeling to optimize design and construction. With more than 50 companies involved, they faced technical and coordination challenges, requiring comprehensive geotechnical modeling software.
They selected PLAXIS due to its flexibility to incorporate various factors and accurately predict real behavior and interaction between the structures and foundation, ensuring the structural safety and stability of the facility. The application’s automated features shortened mathematical modeling time to optimize technical and economic costs and reduce design labor costs. Based on the modeling and analysis results, they determined the required stability coefficients, allowing for continued construction of the facility.
